"Los Pastores" is partially sponsored by First National Bank of Santa Fe.

This Concert is a Collaboration with El Rancho de las Golondrinas. Additional Underwriting from the UNM John Donald Robb Musical Trust and the McCune Charitable Foundation, New Mexico Arts and the Santa Fe Arts Commission

NMPAS and El Rancho de las Golondrinas present "Los Pastores," musical excerpts from the Hispanic folk play about the birth of Jesus, which came to New Mexico via Spain and Mexico. "Los Pastores" (The Shepherds) will be featured along with "Las Posadas" (The Festival of the Inns) and other Spanish and Latin American music for the Christmas season.

John Donald Robb's fascination with folk music led to his recording beginning in the 1940s of more than 3,000 Hispanic folksongs and dances from the American Southwest and South America, all of which form the nucleus of the John Donald Robb Archive of Southwestern Music at UNM Libraries' Center for Southwest Research. Robb originally arranged the music from one of his favorites, "Los Pastores," for SATB chorus and piano. It has recently been edited and arranged for chorus and chamber orchestra through effort by the UNM John Donald Robb Musical Trust.
